Jason's
Biography
JASON BASSETT is no ordinary
insurance salesman. With two Nashville recorded albums
under his belt,
he’s ready and willing to take the country music industry
by storm.
Born 1977 in Lewistown, Montana, Jason got his “official” start when
he performed a rendition of Garth Brooks’ “The Dance” at his
high-school graduation. His earliest exposure to country music was listening
to albums on the family record player such as “Paint Your Wagon” and “The
Highwaymen”. “I was just a kid and we had moved to central Illinois,” Jason
tells it. “I think we wore those records out!” Jason learned to play
on his mother’s guitar which they still have to this day.
After high school, he almost moved to Nashville but went into the HVAC business
with his dad instead. Even after moving to the Peoria area, Jason never really
gave up on his dream of “making it big”.
By now it was 2003 and he was doing pretty well with a new job in insurance and
investments. Later, Jason got the opportunity to start playing with the “Stone
Country Band” (even started to learn fiddle) and was on his way back to
doing live performances for hundreds every Saturday night. “It felt like
I had found myself again,” Jason says.
As fate would have it, a friend of Jason’s heard about a producer from
Nashville who owned a small horse farm in the area. Well, it worked out, and
in November of 2004, Jason had recorded his first album and was on his way. In
fact, his music was so well received, several radio stations in central Illinois
gave him airplay; a very rare occurrence for an un-established new artist.
Music City insiders agree it is just a matter of time until Jason Bassett gets
his “big break”. Meanwhile, his promoters are planning concerts and
shows for the summer season. NSD Records, a Nashville independent label, is in
the process of nationally releasing his first single, which has all the ingredients
for a big hit!
Still, Jason maintains an air of calm and humility about it all. “I haven’t
quit my day-job yet,” he grins “but I’m ready whenever they
(Nashville) are!”
So if Jason Bassett calls you about insurance, invite him over. Even if you don’t
buy anything, you’ll get a chance for an autograph and be able to say…. “I
knew him when…..!”
